The Stanley Hotel (Ghost Stories)

A while ago, I talked about the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. This was the hotel where the idea for Stephen King’s book, “The Shining”, was born.

Today, I wanted to talk more about the ghost stories and sightings that have occured at the Stanley Hotel. To begin with, there is a place in this hotel called “The Vortex” and this is know to be one of the most haunted spots.

The vortex, a grand staircase,  is known to be the place with the most activity. People believe this is true because there are mirrors on either side of the staircase lined up exactly across from on another. When there are mirrors set up like that, it is said that it creates a portal for spirits to travel from their dimension to ours.

Another story is of a little girl named Lucy. Lucy was a 13 year old girl who was said to be a runaway and squatted in the basement of the concert hall fo this hotel. When Lucy was found, she was forced to leave. That night, the temperature dropped and Lucy died from the elements. Today, many of the hotel employees and guest have claimed to see her roaming the hotel. Lucy is said to move candy such as lollipops when they are laying out.

Nonna’s Pizzeria Magna, Utah

Today, I wanted to talk about another haunting, but this time we are going all of the way over to Magna, Utah. Here, there is a little Italian restaurant called Nonna’s Pizzeria that is known to be super haunted. This pizza shop appeared on the famous show called Ghost Adventures and is known as a place for numerous amounts of paranormal activity.

It is said that an old witch set a curse upon the family that owns this pizzeria and now a dark entity lives in the basement. Along with multiple other spirits, this dark entity has been terrorizing the family owners and has even gone as far as grabbing the daughter around the throat.

On a daily basis, foot steps and noises are heard throughout the pizzeria, but no one is ever there. The son, who is about 6 years old, says that he constantly sees a little girl in all black who always wants to play with him. Although he does not think it wants to harm him, it is said that demons/dark entities try to come off as innocent children to lure in people.

(The Family who owns Nonna’s Pizzeria)

As I mentioned earlier, the team from Ghost Adventures did an investigation inside the Pizzeria and found some solid evidence of dark activity. While in the basement, the most haunted part of Nonna’s, the team talked to, what they believe is, a spirit who was put there by a witch.

This pizzeria houses a dark spirit and there is no way of getting rid of it. The owner says that he has communicated with the entity and it said that if he tries to sell it, he will burn the whole pizzeria to the ground.

The team from ghost adventures have tried to cleanse the pizzeria of most of the activity, but to this day, there is still something there.

The Mission Inn, Southern California

Today, I wanted to talk about yet another haunted hotel in southern California called the Mission Inn. The Mission Inn was built in 1902 and has a very unique architectural style. This hotel also gives off very horror movie vibes and has multiple, supposedly haunted, artifacts.

kdu2lnprrmtyei75zvlx

https://img.playbuzz.com/image/upload/c_crop,h_322,w_500,x_0,y_0/q_auto:good,f_auto,fl_lossy,w_640,c_limit/v1506042323/kdu2lnprrmtyei75zvlx.jpg

This hotel was first owned by a man named Columbus Miller who eventually died in 1935. After Miller’s death, his son, Frank took over trying to achieve the goals that his father had for the hotel. After Frank died, the Inn was taken over by his daughter and son-in-law, Allis and DeWitt Hutchings. They eventually died as well in 1956 and the hotel belonged to many others after.

It is said that the ghosts of Frank and his sister Alice still roam around the halls of the Inn, keeping an eye over it. Alice’s former room, on the 4th floor, is said to be a very haunted location in this hotel and is also a spot for paranormal activity. Many people report her creating cold spots and reaching out and touching people when they stay in her room.

The Biltmore Millennium Hotel Pt.2

Last time, I talked about the history of the Biltmore Hotel, but today I want to talk about the experiences that happen.  The Biltmore Hotel is one of the most haunted places in Los Angeles, California and is know to have been the place of multiple unexplained deaths and many strange events. As I have said before, the Biltmore Hotel is where one of the most popular, unexplained murders happened. People call this women who was murdered The Black Dahlia. The Biltmore Hotel was the last place that the Black Dahlia (Elizabeth Short) was seen before she died and her ghost has been seen on the 10th and 11th floors of the hotel.

Now, I want to get into a real story of an encounter of paranormal activity at this hotel. YouTube duo, Sam and Colby recently went to this hotel in hopes of learning more about its history and maybe coming in contact with something not human. I guess you could say that they were successful in their endeavor.

The first time they went to the Biltmore, Sam and Colby continuously received calls from random numbers that did not answer when they picked up. After thinking about where these calls were coming from they realized that the Black Dahlia was last seen and/or herd on the phone in that hotel. Is this paranormal or a coincidence? We may never know, but it is creepy and kind of cool to think about. This first night, they never really saw anything that was truly paranormal.

They went back to this hotel again to try and stay over night to see if they could witness something paranormal. On this night, they had decided to stay in the presidential suite which had two floors. Those two floors happened to be the 10th and 11th floors, the most haunted floors in that hotel. Throughout the night, they heard many loud thuds and unexplained noises, but the one that stood out to me is when they heard the piano playing. So, in the presidential suite, there was both an old elevator and a grand piano (two very creepy things to have in a hotel room). They were on the 11th floor and heard a loud thud from the 10th floor, where the elevator was. The ran down the stairs and the door to the elevator that was previously closed, was now wide open.

After trying to figure out what could possibly have made the door open, they heard high pitch noises that sounded like a piano. When they ran upstairs again, the piano cover was open, which was previously closed. Although creepy, these are all just noises and are not strictly evidence of paranormal activity.

later that night, they had a seance to see if the could try and communicate with whatever was in that hotel. During this seance, the group experienced something they never had before. After asking for the entity to give them as sign, the candles all blew out with a strong wind. This is strange to me because there were no windows open and there was no one else in the room.

This is just one of many experiences that have happened at the Biltmore hotel.

The Biltmore Millennium Hotel Pt.1

Today I wanted to talk about the Biltmore Millennium Hotel in Los Angeles, California. This hotel opened in 1923 and was used for many different events in the past such as hosting the Academy Awards in 1935, music videos, and movies. Not only is this hotel very luxurious, but it is also very haunted. This hotel is known to be the most haunted hotel in Los Angeles.

Millennium-Biltmore-Hotel-3

https://amyscrypt.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Millennium-Biltmore-Hotel-3.jpg

This hotel is also known for one of America’s most famous unsolved murders: The Black Dahlia. This is a pretty gruesome story so I won’t get into great detail, but let’s just say that Elizabeth Short (The Black Dahlia) was last seen at this hotel before she was found dead. Many people in the hotel seem to report seeing a woman (resembling Elizabeth Short) dressed in 1940s clothing roaming the halls of the 10th and 11th floor. They normally see her riding the elevator and walking up stairs before she walks and disappears through a wall. The 10th and 11th floor are known as the most haunted floors in this hotel and are known for many sitings. Millennium-Biltmore-Hotel-5

https://amyscrypt.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Millennium-Biltmore-Hotel-5.jpg

There also used to be multiple sitings of a nurse roaming the second floor. This is said to happen because this hotel was also used during World War II as a place for soldiers to rest and take a break. The nurse is said to roam the second floor because this is where the cots for the soldiers were set up for the soldiers to visit.

There are many other hauntings of this hotel and many personal experiences from this hotel, but that is for next time.

Eastern State Penitentiary, USA

Today I am going to explore the story of the Eastern State Penitentiary located in Philadelphia. This is a castle which was also a prison and we all know that prisons mean trouble. This prison opened in 1829 as a “new” type of prison. What made this prison so unique was that prisoners were not allowed to interact with other prisoners at all.

dsc_2093-x3-e1438453459822

http://rocknrove.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/DSC_2093-X3-e1438453459822.jpg

These prisoners ate alone, exercised alone, and read (the Bible only) alone. If a prisoner was taken out of the cell, a hood was put over their head to prevent interaction. All of this solitude was meant to inspire peace, instead it sparked insanity.

Eventually, due to overcrowding, this prison. Was reverted into a normal prison where inmates lived together and communicated. This prison was opened until 1971 and was abandoned for years after that.

Many of the inmates went insane and it is said that these troubled souls still linger at this abandoned prison.

This prison is now opened to the public for tours and is even used as a haunted house on Halloween.

Poveglia Island/Asylum, Venice, Italy

Today, I wanted to talk about the Poveglia Asylum in Venice, Italy. This asylum is located on a small island called Poveglia. This island has a history of plague, mental asylums, hauntings, and wars. The island is currently off limits to the public and has been abandoned since 1968, following the closing of the mental asylum.

https://thumbs-prod.si-cdn.com/UBegNAboknzw-Fd82chgq9mTVa4=/800×600/filters:no_upscale()/https://public-media.si-cdn.com/filer/d0/32/d032b40e-abc6-40ad-a2f8-6dfb7e9a1039/fv001651.jpg

The asylum was built/repurposed in 1922. Legend has it, this asylum was far from normal. It is said that the doctor tourted and killed many of his patients in very inhuman ways. The death of the doctor remains a mystery.

The island, over time, has become a cemetery where dead people were brought to be buried or buried in mass graves. Researchers say that there are about 200,000 people buried on the island. All of these events have led people to believe that this whole island is haunted.

When the island was opened, people reported seeing ghosts of plague victims and hearing screams of tortured asylum patients. This island has become known as the cursed island.

It is possible to get into the island through a lengthy legal process, but it might not be the best idea.

The Whaley House

Today, I am going to be talking about the Whaley house located in San Diego, California. This house seemed to be haunted even before it was built. Where this house was built was the main sight of public executions. One of the most famous execution that occurred on the land was of the thief named Yankee Jim Robinson.

tournighttime

https://goo.gl/images/7FLCUf

Knowing all of the deaths that occurred on this land and the potential hauntings, Thomas Whaley decided to purchase the land anyway. He purchased the land in 1855 and began the construction of his family home. Thomas, His wife, and three kids moved in just a couple of years after the land was bought in 1857. It was all downhill from there.

Shortly after they moved into the home, their youngest son of only 18 months died of scarlet fever. Then, a few months after that, a fire broke out in the house  destroying most of it. After years of rebuilding after the fire, the Whaley house was up and running again.

depositphotos_53077407-stock-photo-san-diegos-haunted-house-whaley

https://st2.depositphotos.com/1041088/5307/i/950/depositphotos_53077407-stock-photo-san-diegos-haunted-house-whaley.jpg

Multiple years later, two of the Whaley daughters got married in the house. The younger of the two daugters had a rough married and decided to divorce. She then grew more and more depressed that she eventually did not want to live anymore. She committed suicide on August 15, 1885.

As you can see, this house was bad luck. The next few generations of Whaleys lives in the same house and as you may be able to guess multiple generations of Whaleys died in that house.

In the restoration periods of the home, visitors and workers continuously heard noises such as voices and footsteps. The most well known ghost in the Whaley house is Jim Robinson, the theif who was hanged on the ground the house was built on. Some people have also hear little footsteps of what is said to be the youngest son, Thomas who died when he was 18 months old.

whaleyfull

http://whaleyhouse.org/images/whaleyfull.jpg

Nobody lives in the house today, but workers and visitors who have tour the house have reported seeing a figure looking out of the upstairs window long after the house is closed for the day. Today, the Whaley house is known as one of the most haunted places in America and is a big tourist attraction.

The Queen Mary Ship: Revisited

In one of my first blog posts, I explained the story of the haunted Queen Mary ship that is now a hotel. I wanted to revisit this attraction and explain some stories that people have reported from the ship.

B256CB1D-CF85-4AA2-884D-EE5B1F69286A

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/03/22/23/3E8A80FD00000578-0-image-a-21_1490227098307.jpgj

As I said in the first blog post, the Queen Mary was a functioning ship that was made into a hotel on the coast of California. This ship is haunted many spirits lurking around the hallways. The most haunted room in the ship is said to be room B-340. Multiple unexplained deaths have happened in that room since it became a hotel. It was reported that a man died it that room, but he did not kill himself and he did not die from natural causes. The door was locked and there was nobody in the room except for the man, but it was pointed out that someone else had to have killed him. This is because, based on the way he died, he could not have killed himself.

http://grandtourduo.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/queen_mary_b340_8.jpg

Room B-340 has been closed off to customers due to multiple reports of paranormal activity and unexplained deaths. However, the room was opened back up to the public for a couple weeks and a YouTube duo named Sam and Colby stayed overnight in this room to see if they could catch anything paranormal and see if the rumors were true. Throughout the night, they never really caught anything on camera, but they did have one experience where the sink faucet turned on and the show curtain opened. The most chilling things happened when the camera was off.

4BB572D1-6181-4BAD-9A03-E1F1AE97A43D.jpeg

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/MZ_QLMJMA1k/maxresdefault.jpg

As they were about to leave, they asked a final question. They then heard a tap on the wall. They decided to ask another question and have it reply with one tap for yes and two taps for no. None of this was caught on camera, but a person in their group had started voice recording without anyone else knowing. They had about a 30 minute conversation with taps answering almost every question (video linked below). At the end they had asked a question about heaven and the entity had tried to convince them that there was no heaven. At that moment, one person said they should leave, so they did. At the end of the video, a person who is very religious said that demons normally try to convince people there is no heaven.

Now, do you believe this story? It could easily have been one of them tapping because only the audio was caught or they may have been having an actual conversation with something that is not human. What do you think? You can watch for yourself. Below is the link to the video that show the unreleased audio recording.

The Winchester Mystery House Pt.2

Last time, I told the backstory of the Winchester Mystery House and how a widow named Sarah Winchester built a ridiculously large house. Today, I am going to explain where Mrs. Winchester was getting her ideas. If you have not already, go read Part 1: The Backstory.

Part 2: The Reasons

As I told you guys last time, Mrs. Winchester’s husband was responsible for making the Winchester rifle, responsible for killing hundreds of people. Mrs. Winchester was said to be haunted by those spirits that were killed by the Winchester rifle. Mrs. Winchester then met with a psychic who told her that in order to get away from the spirits, she would have to move out west, buy a home, and build non-stop.

As she was building the house, it is said that she communicated with the spirits. Those spirits were good and supposedly told Mrs. Winchester ideas that would help confuse the evil spirits. These were the ideas that Mrs. Winchester was giving to her construction workers every day; she was trying to get rid of the spirits. Therefore, in the house there are rows of stairs that lead to nothing and some form mazes where she hoped the spirits would get lost.

download

http://livingoutsideofthebox.com/2014/05/20/winchester-mystery-house/

It gets weirder, when Mrs. Winchester said that she was two months from being done with her renovations in 1906, her house was 7 stories high. A couple of days after, a massive earthquake struck the area. This earthquake toppled the top three stories of her house, damaging the remaining 4 stories. Sarah took this as a sign from the spirits that she should not stop building. She began her renovations again, this time instead of building up, she built out. Sarah Winchester, therefore, never stopped renovating and adding new things to the house until she died. That was over 30 years of renovations.

Today, the mansion is a museum and ghostly attracting for tourists. Workers at this museum have reported strange encounters such as hearing footsteps, doors slamming shut, and windows shattering.

Was this house actually haunted, or was Sarah Winchester just going insane? Let me know what you think. Would you want to visit this house? Also let me know what other stories you would like me to talk about!
